About This Site
This database of online environmental information sources is a joint project between the Center for Environmental Journalism and the University Libraries, both of the University of Colorado at Boulder. It is motivated by a simple idea: A well-informed public is the basis of democracy. In no area of public affairs is that truer than environmental issues.
We have designed the site to help students, journalists, experts and the general public stay informed. Within it you will find links to Web sites and databases containing information on the scientific, political, economic and social aspects of environmental issues. These information sources have been produced by research institutions, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and other authoritative groups. To help you make your searches as efficient as possible, we have tried to be highly selective in our choice of these online resources. Moreover, the database is fully searchable, and we've included a directory feature, which lists online information sources by subject matter.
The database was produced by a team of graduate students at the School of Journalism & Mass Communication under the direction of Professors Margaret Jobe and Tom Yulsman. Prof. Jobe is the Acting Faculty Director of the Lester Math Physics Library. Formerly she served as International Documents Librarian for the Government Publications Library. Prof. Tom Yulsman is an associate professor in the School of Journalism and deputy director of the Center for Environmental Journalism. He also serves as a faculty member in the Environmental Studies program. Content for the site was created by Margaret Jobe, Tom Yulsman, Susan Bacon and Anthony Lane. Michael W. Anderson was the site and application designer. Funding for the project was provided by a University of Colorado Teaching With Technology Grant.
